Several types of diseases and conditions can cause pelvic pain.
Pelvic pain occurs as pain, pressure or discomfort between the waist and butt bones. It may result from a dysfunction in the spine, pelvis or hips.
Pelvic pain can have causes that are not due to underlying disease such as; constipation, pregnancy, bladder issues, pelvic organ prolapse, sexual pain, menstruation, surgery, or trauma.
Symptoms can include
- Chronic pelvic pain (CPP)
- dyspareunia/pain with penetration
- pain with or after orgasm
- vaginismus
- vulvodynia/vulvar vestibulitis
- endometriosis
- ab and groin pain
- clitoral pain
- anal/rectal pain
- proctalgia fugax
- SI joint and back pain, tailbone/coccydynia
- hip pain/labral dysfunction/impingement
